TWO PERFECT NIGHTS AT BINGARA GORGE

31 January 2011

The kids came dressed as their favourite Toy Story folk and looked and played the part amongst the approximate 350 people who descended upon Bingara Gorge for our special Live It Up twilight cinema evening.

Well before the sun set and the giant outdoor screen lit up with Toy Story 3, our residents and plenty of visitors were getting into the swing of things, entertained by a guest appearance from Mr Potato Head, face painting and balloons.

With brilliant weather, it was a perfect summer’s night to gather the family for a picnic, mingle with friends or meet new ones all against the backdrop of beautiful Bingara Gorge.
The Toy Story evening followed an equally successful Jazz night the weekend before when more than 150 people brought their picnic rugs and hampers to listen to Blue Train and Fisher’s Ghost Youth Orchestra.
Bingara Gorge Project Director Paul Gerlach said the two events proved even more popular than they’d expected.

“With so many people here enjoying these two nights of entertainment it really reinforced what an important role Bingara Gorge already plays in the wider community,’’ said Mr Gerlach.

“At both events half those attending were newcomers, experiencing for the first time the wonderful environment and facilities we have here.

“In fact the Jazz in the Park crowd were having such a good time they were reluctant to call it a night. They could have kicked on for several more hours.”

Mr Gerlach said the Macarthur Region frequently missed out on entertainment opportunities and Bingara Gorge had chosen to take a leading role in providing community events.

“Over time we can see Bingara Gorge becoming the heart and the hub of Wilton where people come to enjoy nights like this,” said Mr Gerlach. “But what everyone who attended discovered is that you don’t need a special event to enjoy what we have here.

“Any day is a good day to have a picnic by the lake, play in the parks and gardens or enjoy a coffee in our Sales and Information Centre.”

As a bonus, nearly $500 from the Twilight Cinema sausage sizzle were donated to the Rural Fire Services who helped out on the night.

PS.   We love to get feedback and here’s what one resident family had to say about the Twilight Cinema night.

"Just wanted to thank you all for a lovely evening last Friday night. Gary and I, daughter Tamara and friends enjoyed the movie and socialising very much.

Bingara Gorge certainly is the place to live.

Thanks again."
