FREE FAMILY FUN FEST SHOWCASES THE BEST OF BINGARA GORGE
Bingara Gorge is holding a two-weekend festival of free family fun that showcases all the benefits of living in one of Sydney’s most desirable residential communities. The “Live the Life” festival puts the spotlight on healthy living, education, community, sport and entertainment with activities designed to captivate young and old.
Bingara Gorge Project Director Paul Gerlach said the event had been tailored to show off the best assets of Bingara Gorge.
“Life here at Bingara Gorge really is something special,” said Mr Gerlach. “The things that people care about most in life – being healthy and happy – are all easily achievable here and this festival offers a little taste of the lifestyle that we have to offer.”
This Saturday, November 6, kicks off with a Body Balance session beginning at 9am, followed by breakfast in Teas and Greens Café (RSVP essential). It’s the perfect way to begin your get fit for summer campaign and get a head start on New Year resolutions. Body Balance combines Tai Chi, yoga, Pilates and meditation and is designed to suit all fitness levels.
There’ll be time to explore the display homes, parks and walking trails of Bingara Gorge before Story Time with Groovy Suzy at 3pm in the Sales and Information Centre. And what better way to finish a beautiful day at Bingara Gorge than to enjoy a picnic in the amphitheatre while viewing a Twilight Movie with the family – “Ice Age 3, Dawn of the Dinosaurs”. Bring a picnic basket and blanket from 6.30pm. Movie starts when dark.
Sunday (7th November) features even more delights for the children with a Kids Gardening Adventure beginning at 10am and an opportunity to paint their own pots and plant their own seedlings. At 2pm the focus shifts to discovery and learning with the CSIRO holding a Young Scientists show followed by a hands-on session where kids will get to make and eat Liquid Nitrogen ice cream, make slime, super bouncy balls and fossil plaster casts to take home. There’ll also be water rockets, giant bubbles, and tornado tubes to keep inquiring minds engaged.
The highlight of the Live the Life festival is on Saturday November 13, introducing internationally acclaimed golf course
designer and former champion golfer Graham Marsh and the official opening of the Golf Course Viewing Platform. The 9.5 metre timber and steel tower offers a bird’s eye view of the 18-hole championship course, revealing the spectacular layout surrounded by the dramatic ravine and bushland views.
It will be a day dominated by all things golf with a mini putting green for the kids and a practice hole where older golfers can compete in a nearest the pin competition to win a barbecue valued at $599. The South West Academy of Sport will also be at hand with instructors and assistants providing advice to competitors to improve their stroke.
Sunday (14th November) begins with another healthy living Body Balance session at 9am followed by the perfect Sunday entertainment – food. Last year’s MasterChef finalist and former pro golfer Lucas Parsons will conduct a master class from 1pm-4pm for visitors to sample and recreate in their own homes. After the spectacular success
of Junior MasterChef, this is an event for the whole to enjoy. There’ll be a chance to quiz Lucas with your cooking questions and take home recipe cards.
