Bingara Gorge is on track to take delivery of a new public school in time for the 2011 school year following a recent land agreement between the New South Wales Department of Education and Training and Delfin Lend Lease.
The land agreement sets aside a 3 hectare site for the primary school within the heart of the new Bingara Gorge community, near Wilton. The school will form part of the Bingara Gorge village heart which will also feature shopping, dining and community facilities.
New South Wales Department of Education and Training expects the K-to-6 primary school to cater to around 300 students once completed.
Construction will start in 2010, with the school due to open in Term 1, 2011.
Bingara Gorge Project Director Paul Gerlach said the new school would be a valuable addition to the region by providing modern education facilities.
“This is a major milestone for the region and recognises the demand for primary school places from the growing population in the south western growth corridor,” he said.
“The school will form a major part of the Bingara Gorge community as residents begin to move into their new homes.
“The delivery of this school forms part of our commitment to delivering essential social infrastructure early in the development of the community.”
Bingara Gorge is a $1 billion development that will include 1,165 residential lots and be home to 3,500 residents upon completion. It will feature an 18-hole championship golf course designed by one of the world’s top-ranked golfers, Ernie Els, along with 18km of paths and trails and 113ha of protected bushland.
The fully master planned development has been designed to maximise views of open space and the golf course. About 80% of the housing lots will be more than 800 sqm in size.
Delfin Lend Lease is Australia’s leading developer of masterplanned communities with more than 24 projects across the country.
